After 3 years of correspondence and sharing images with our colleagues from Holland
we had our first international competition on Thursday 4th April.
Six members from Maasstad attended a full club room and the judges comments were
read out together with the marks awarded. Robert Van Agthoven had interpreted the
comments for our visitors. The result was a narrow victory for Leigh but the highest
number of marks for an individual photographer went to Marly Smit. (Well done Marly!)
This is a special year for both clubs as we are celebrating our 90th year so it is
fitting that we got together and as a result friendships were formed.
Robert, Rini, Marly, Hans, and Bert stayed in Southend for 4 days and Kees for 2.
During their time here members of Leigh showed them some of the local sites on the
Thursday and travelled to London with them on the Saturday.
Our trip to London commenced in Portobello Road and after a tube ride back to Oxford
Circus and much walking we took our final shots at Tower Bridge.
We already have a date for a return competition next year and the opportunity for
our members to visit Holland.
